Owl causes wide-spread power outage in Madison County

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville Utilities experienced a large power outage early Tuesday morning.

An owl got between power lines just outside of a substation on Johnson Avenue in New Hope creating a fault which then caused the substation that serves that area to go offline.

The outage impacted the Big Cove, Hampton Cove, Owens Crossroads and New Hope areas.

Crews had power restored by 5:50 a.m. A Spokesman says crews are in several locations to make sure the system in that area remains stable and the power stays on.
