Tennessee Department of Transportation uses Brine And Beet Juice to treat roads

Fayetteville, TN -

FAYETTEVILLE, TN (WAFF) - Workers with the Tennessee Department Of Transportation have been mixing brine solution with Beet juice to treat the roads.

It's used when the temperatures are drop extremely low. The mix is said to be biodegradable, non-corrosive, and environmentally friendly.

Public safety workers spray the mix a day before snow is expected to fall. It takes at least two days to make a 500 gallon barrel.

Some drivers can't tell the difference between Tennessee's pre-treated roads and the untreated ones in Alabama.

Tennessee DOT workers also use potato juice as well.
