Alleged Halloween rapist takes the stand

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A 14-year-old took the stand today to testify against her alleged rapist.

The attack happened three years ago when she was just 11-years-old.

The suspect also took the stand.

Strickland told jurors that he did go to this Halloween party and that there were drugs and alcohol involved, but he says he did not touch, rape, or sodomize the victim.

He says he left the party.

Strickland says he feels bad for what happened to the victim, but can't understand why she is accusing him.

The victim, now 14, testified as well.

She described the incidents that occurred that night, saying that Strickland had asked to talk to her. She says that when she went around to the back of the house, she says he grabbed her and raped her.

A sexual assault nurse, who treated the then 11-year-old girl, also testified. She told the jury the victim had injuries consistant with a rape.

There was no DNA available in this case to be testified so that will not be a factor.

Strickland is charged with first degree rape and sodomy.
