Meteorologist Brian Fowler is the newest member of the WAFF 48 Storm Team and brings with him more than 12 years of weather experience.  Brian comes to us from Macon, Georgia where he spent the last three years as Chief Meteorologist at WMGT-TV. Before that he was the Morning Meteorologist at WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi.  He also spent a good part of seven years doing weather in Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Before Dallas, Brian spent four years at Mississippi State University studying GeoScience with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology. "Go MSU Bulldogs!"  He received his B.S. in GeoScience in 1999.  Brian is a Texan by blood and grew up in Mckinney, which is a city just north of Dallas. "Go Cowboys!"

When Brian is not forecasting the weather, you can find him spending time with his wife and two daughters or working out at the gym. He says raising two energetic daughters can be work-out enough though.

Brian stays busy watching the weather and hanging out with the family, but he does have other interests.

"My hobbies include skydiving, but my wife has grounded me from that sport," said Brian. "Don't be surprised if you see me at a local drop zone buying a ticket and putting myself down on the manifest for the next load up to 10,500!"

Speaking of skydiving, that's what inspired Brian to be a meteorologist in the first place. He grew up around airplanes and skydivers and had to know what the weather was doing all the time. Brian says you can't jump if it's rainy, windy, or if the clouds are too low to the ground.  Checking the forecast was a daily routine for the would-be Meteorologist.

But that's not the only part of skydiving that inspired Brian.

"Falling through the air at 120 mph and watching your shadow coming up on a cloud before you punch through it is an amazing rush and totally inspired my love for weather," he said.
