Behind an explosive offensive attack and solid defensive effort, No. 12 Alabama defeated No. 19 Mississippi State Bulldogs 30-10 before a sold-out crowd of 101,821 at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday night.
The Crimson Tide scored three touchdowns on plays covering 45, 56 and 78 yards. Senior quarterback Greg McElroy finished the night 12-of-18 for 227 yards and two touchdowns in three quarters of work while junior running back Mark Ingram racked up 130 total yards of offense (77 receiving, 53 rushing), including a career-long 78-yard touchdown reception.
Junior wide receiver Marquis Maze had 89 yards on five receptions and one touchdown while junior wide receiver Julio Jones had 97 total yards, including a 56-yard touchdown run. The Tide totaled 452 yards of offense while allowing just 289 yards from Mississippi State. Alabama (8-2, 5-2 SEC) returns to action next Thursday against Georgia State at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
