MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) – The Madison County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Huntsville man as an apparent homicide.

A driver spotted the man's body Tuesday around 1:15 pm off West Limestone Road, just west of Loveless Road in Madison County.

Investigators aren't yet saying exactly how the man died, but they are saying it appears he was killed Tuesday morning.

Several crime scene units were out at the scene Wednesday morning to collect evidence.

The man's body was recovered Tuesday, but severe weather prevented investigators from searching the water and surrounding woods.

Madison County Sheriff's spokesman Inv. Chad Brooks said a person driving across the bridge spotted the body in the creek and called authorities.

The victim has been identified as Douglas Leon Young, 20, of Huntsville.

Investigators hope someone saw something that could help them solve this case, even though Young's body was found in a very rural area.

"It's a fairly remote area," Brooks said. "That specifically, there's not a lot of residences close-by. It is fairly remote."

The sheriff's department is encouraging anyone with information about this crime to call its investigative division at (256) 533-8820.

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
