Huntsville Havoc head coach Randy Murphy finalized his roster today for the opening weekend of play starting on the road Friday night in Augusta.
Back from 2009-10 are goalies Mark Sibbald and Dan McWhinney. Sibbald got the Havoc off to a tremendous start before joining the Mississippi Riverkings of the CHL at mid-season. McWhinney picked up where he left off and led the Havoc to the SPHL Championship and was named playoff MVP.
Billy McCreary heads up the defensive core and joining him will be newcomers Kevin Kessler, Omar Pacha, Adam Knopp and Greg Moore. Chad Kennedy will join the team tomorrow and sign a three-game tryout for the opening weekend. Adam Lukacovic will also be available after a 30-day stay on the injured reserve list. He was hurt in the pre-season game at home against Knoxville.
The forward are led by captain Mike MacDonald, assistant captain Ray Ortiz and veteran Mike Carter. Veterans Stephen Margeson and Glenn Detulleo will also be counted on to add scoring and provide leadership. Newcomers Matt Piegza, Kyle Laughlin Kamil Vavra and Tanner Shultz will also look to make an impact in the offensive zone.
The Havoc will make their home debut on Breland Homes Ice on Saturday, October 23 at 7:30 against the Fayetteville FireAntz.
