RUSSELLVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Russellville authorities arrested a man for the shooting death of 70-year-old Robert Leroy Presley.

Russellville Police responded to a shots fired call around 10:00 Wednesday night at 701 Hawkins Circle in Russellville

When they arrived at the home, they found Presley's body. They also found the suspected shooter, 54-year-old Jerry Ronald Mills and arrested him. He is charged him with murder.

Police say Mills went to the house to talk to Presley about furniture. When Presley asked Mills to leave, investigators say Mills went out to his car and pulled out a semi-automatic pistol.

The witness that was in the house said they went outside and a few minutes later they heard gun shots.

Presely was fatally shot in the chest as he sat in his wheelchair on his driveway.

The Presely family says the victim had a big heart and recently let a few people move in with him who'd fallen on hard times. They say the shooter was not in that group but was an acquaintance.

Presley's body is undergoing an autopsy.
