HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Police in Huntsville and Madison will begin enforcing the new texting and driving ban Monday. Billboards and road signs will be posted throughout the area to remind drivers of the new law.
An officer cannot pull you over just for texting, but if they see you violating some other law, such as speeding, you can be ticketed for texting as well. Making calls on a cell phone is still allowed by law.
"When you're driving, keep your eyes on the road, don't be distracted, and don't try to multi-task. While you're driving make sure that you're driving safe, because the safety is not only your safety, but it's everyone else's on the roads," said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle.
