HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The Northeast Alabama State Fair opens Thursday for the Labor Day weekend.
The state doesn't inspect the amusement rides. Fair organizer Ron Stephens of the Huntsville Jaycees said Kissel Entertainment, the company that brings the fair to town, does safety inspections of their own.
"Everyday before they open, they have different workers that are assigned to different rides and they go and do a maintenance check everyday before they open. We've had them here 15 years and never had a problem with anything." Stephens said.
The fire marshall and the Huntsville City Inspection Department monitor fire safety and electrical wires.
