JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A former Jackson County principal fired for bringing a gun to school is coming back into the school system.

Monte Gant was principal at Earnest Pruett Center of Technology in Hollywood when he brought a gun to school in May.

Gant admitted he brought the gun and said he did it to protect the students and staff.

He was not arrested, but he was fired.

Now, Gant and school officials have reached an agreement following an administrative appeal.

Superintendent Kenneth Harding said Gant will come back September 1st.

Harding declined comment on where until he confers with the school board.
