DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - A Decatur man was placed into custody as he was being released from jail for allegedly breaking into a woman's vehicle, stealing her credit card and using it.
Investigators said on July 6th, a woman called Decatur Police and told them she had been out of town for the holiday weekend and when she returned home, she discovered someone had broken into her vehicle.
After filing that report, she notified detectives that her bank account showed someone was using her credit card without authorization.
Investigators said they developed Bobby Wayne Lanford, 24, as the suspect.
On August 25th, Lanford, while being released from the Madison County Jail on unrelated felony charges, was met by a Decatur officer who arrested him.
Authorities took Lanford to the Decatur City Jail.
Lanford is charged with two counts of illegal possession and fraudulent use of a debit or credit card.
Authorities said he would be taken back to the Morgan County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.
