Sci-Quest presents annual Mad Scientist Ball

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) – Sci-Quest, Hands-on Science Center in Huntsville will transform into a mad scientist's laboratory on Friday, October 8 for the annual Mad Scientist Ball, a premier adult fundraiser.

Guests will enjoy a night of delicious food, drinks, a silent and live auction, live music from DiscOasis and the presentation of the Quest for Excellence Awards.

Throughout the evening, guests will have a chance to bid on auction items, including science artifacts and shows, autographed sports memorabilia, wine dinners, and original artwork by local artists.

All proceeds from the evening will fund the educational programs Sci-Quest offers both on-site and in school outreach efforts.

"This fundraiser is our top event to help support the many educational activities we offer at the Center. If you and your family enjoy spending time exploring our exhibits at the Center or hands-on learning provided in our special programs and school outreach, please support us at this fun event," said Sci-Quest director Cyndy Morgan.

Sci-Quest will be presenting the Quest for Excellence awards during the Ball, which are community awards given to local professionals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers.

A nomination form can be found on Sci-Quest's website. Nominations must be submitted by August 31st.

"We are proud to be able to honor these men and women at such a wonderful event. It is a great way to recognize the great work they are doing for our community," said Morgan.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and guests are encouraged to wear their lab coats or Halloween costumes, but business casual attire is also acceptable.

Tickets are on sale now for $50 per person. To order tickets, call 256-837-0606, ext. 252 or email reservations@sci-quest.org.
