HUNTSVILLE, AL - (WAFF) Huntsville Police have linked hundreds of thousands of dollars in metal thefts and property damage to a Morgan County man.

Officers arrested Nakia Wayne Waits, 35, of Lacey's Spring early Friday morning. Investigators said Waits confessed to several copper and metal-related thefts throughout Huntsville.

Police said they've linked him to 15 cases, but they suspect he may be responsible for more.

"We're still looking at cases and we kind of feel that there's probably a lot of cases that haven't been reported yet because most of the buildings he was hitting were either out-of-business or abandoned-type commercial buildings," said Huntsville Police Sergeant Jack Pugh.

Waits faces three theft charges and investigators said they expect more charges to come.
