Tricia Forbes did not grow up in Huntsville, but it is likely you have made a trip to her hometown. Tricia comes to the Rocket City from the beautiful beaches of Destin, Florida.
Tricia is a graduate of the Meek School of Journalism and New Media at Ole Miss, where she worked at the S. Gale Denley Student Media Center. Tricia started out as a DJ at 92.1 Rebel Radio, "Oxford's Best Music!" and was later hired as a reporter and anchor for the live, nightly newscast at NewsWatch. She worked there for a year before transitioning to the leadership team as News Director.
During her time at Ole Miss, she had the opportunity to cover the first Presidential Debate of 2008, the BP oil spill and a fatal hostage situation in Oxford, Mississippi.
She is proud to have been inducted into the Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism Honor Society by Dan Rather himself!
In the summer of 2009, Tricia interned in the CNN Newsroom where she worked closely with CNN anchor Tony Harris and his team. She was able to gain first-hand experience with breaking news stories like the election protests in Iran and learned to connect with viewers through the CNN.com blog. This internship reaffirmed her passion for storytelling and confirmed that broadcast journalism was the career for her.
When she's not bringing the news to you, Tricia enjoys boating, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Tricia is excited about continuing her career here in Huntsville. When you see her around town please feel free to say hello! If you want Tricia to tell your story on WAFF, send your information to tforbes@waff.com.
