HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Officials say a 15-year-old girl was pronounced dead at Huntsville Hospital after being struck by lightning while swimming in Lake Guntersville.
Marshall County Coroner Marlon Killion says the girl died Sunday afternoon. He says she had been swimming with family at the Honeycomb Campground.
The girl's mother and sister were also hurt in the strike. Both were taken to Huntsville Hospital. Killion says the 15-year-old was pronounced dead in the emergency room at the hospital.
The campground is located just off Highway 431 between Huntsville and Guntersville in Marshall County.
