The Alabama Crimson Tide are one game away from reaching the NCAA College Baseball World Series after beating Regional host Clemson 5-4 in game one of the best of three series.
The Tide scored first off a Jake Smith solo home run in the top of the second inning to set the pace for the Alabama. Leading 2-0 after the first inning, more runs followed in the top of the third inning as Andrew Miller recorded a RBI single to bring home two more runs to make the score 4-0.
The Tide would score another run in the third inning to make it 5-0. Clemson would rally in the bottom of the third scoring three runs, and adding another in the bottom of the seventh.
But Jake Smith would close the show on the mound to get the save and the win for Alabama. Smith went 2-4 at the plate with a home run and the game winning save on the mound, his sixth of the season. Alabama returns to action Sunday at 6 CDT for game two of the series.
