Auburn selected to host NCAA regional

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn University has been awarded a host site for the 2010 NCAA Division I Baseball Regionals to be held June 4-7, the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee announced on Sunday afternoon. Auburn is one of 16 host sites and will be one of four teams that will begin competition on Friday, June 4 at Plainsman Park.

The host site marks the fourth time in school history and first time since 2003 that Au¬burn has hosted a NCAA Regional. Auburn hosted a NCAA Regional in 2003 and 1999 and the NCAA South Regional in 1978.

"This is a great accomplishment for our student-athletes. It is a great opportunity to be selected as one of the 16 hosts. This is exciting for our program," Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski said. "Our kids are excited about having the opportunity to continue to play at home. We encourage Auburn fans to come out and pack the park. Anytime you are playing at home it helps."

Auburn is 40-19 and won the Southeastern Conference's Western Division Championship with a 20-10 record in league play. It is Auburn's first postseason appearance since 2005 and the program's 18th overall.

Joining Auburn from the SEC as host sites are Arkansas (40-18), Fayetteville, Ark.; Florida (42-15), Gainesville, Fla.; South Carolina (43-15), Columbia, S.C.

The remaining host sites are as follows: Arizona State (47-8), Tempe, Ariz.; Cal State Fullerton (40-15 through Saturday, May 29), Fullerton, Calif.; Coastal Carolina (51-7), Conway, S.C.; Connecticut (47-14), Storrs, Conn.; Florida (42-15), Georgia Tech (45-13), Atlanta; Louisville (48-12), Louisville, Ky.; Miami (Florida) (40-17), Coral Gables, Fla.; Oklahoma (44-15), Norman, Okla.; Texas (46-11), Austin, Texas; TCU (46-11), Fort Worth, Texas; UCLA (42-13), Los Angeles; Virginia (47-11), Charlottesville, Va.

The NCAA Tournament of 64 teams, including the remaining Auburn Regional participants, will be announced on Monday, May 31 at 11:30am CT on ESPN.

Tickets are now available on-line at Tickets may be ordered by phone at 1-800-AUB-1957, ext. 1, or in person at the Auburn Athletic Ticket Office in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum from 8am-4:30pm beginning Tuesday, June 1.

Ticket prices are $75 for reserved all-session, $50 for terrace all-session and $25 for student all-session.

The Coliseum Ticket Office will open at 8am CT on Tuesday. All-Session tickets will go on sale at 3pm today (Sunday) online. Single game tickets, if available, will go on sale Friday at 8am.

Individual game tickets will go on sale Friday and are $15 for reserved seats, $10 for Terrace Area and $5 for college students with an ID.

Game times will be at 2pm CT and 6pm on Friday and Saturday, 1pm and 5pm on Sunday and 6pm on Monday (if necessary.
