WETUMPKA, AL (WAFF) - Two toddlers are safe after Montgomery Police caught their kidnapper Wednesday.
It started as a kidnapping investigation in Wetumpka and ended with two parents clutching their children and one man behind bars.
For the parents of Chloe and Bryant Cannon Wednesday was a whirlwind of emotions.
They said the man who police say took their children is a family friend and babysat the children often.
They said he took the kids and didn't bring them home, prompting an investigation and police search.
With that search and help from a community member, Chloe and Bryant were found and so was their kidnapper, Christopher Thompson and another man he was with.
Police say they found Thompson's car and the kids at the Sam's club off the Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery and brought them to the Montgomery Police Department.
"I was so happy that they're home safe," said the children's mother, Tiffany Broadway. "All I could think is I don't like thinking the worst and I didn't and that's why they're here. I knew that God was going to watch over them and they're here."
The parents say they've learned one big lesson from all of this and have a message for every parent out there: make sure you know who is taking care of your kids.
They say Christopher Thompson will never see their children again.
