DeKalb County, AL -

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - State troopers say the driver of the single car accident, 81-year-old Helen Edwards some how lost control and flipped her vehicle several times.

Edwards was air-lifted to a hospital in Chattanooga where she died. The cause of the accident is still under investigation Wednesday night.

It happened on I-59 in the North bound lane. Her car rolled over multiple times.

DeKalb Ambulance Service responded to the call around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday. They arrived on the scene where they gave immediate treatment.  LilfeForce was launched, and the victim was air lifted to Baroness Erlanger Medical Center's Level One trauma unit in Chattanooga.

First responders say had she not been wearing her seat belt, she would have been thrown a long distance.

The North Bound lane of I-59 interstate was closed for 45 minutes.
