Huntsville holds second annual Mayor Bike Ride

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The second annual Mayor's Bike Ride will be held in the downtown area on Saturday, May 15.

The riders will gather on Fountain Circle at 9:00 am and the ride will begin at 10:00 am. Fountain Circle between Gates Avenue and Williams Avenue will be closed to through traffic starting at 9:00 am until the end of the ride, which is expected to be about 12:00 noon.

The ride route is as follows:

The ride will gather on Fountain Circle between Gates Avenue and Williams Avenue, turn right to travel west on Williams Avenue, turn left to travel south on Monroe street, turn right to travel west then north on Heart of Huntsville Drive, cross Clinton Avenue and continue north on Woodson Street, turn right to travel east on Holmes Avenue, turn left to travel north, east and then south on Monroe Street, turn left to travel east on Holmes Avenue, turn right to travel south on Calhoun Street, turn right to travel west on Clinton Avenue, turn left to travel south on Green Street, turn left to travel east on Williams Avenue, turn right to travel south on Adams Street, turn right to travel west on Lowell Avenue, turn right to travel north on Franklin Street, turn left to travel west on Williams Avenue and turn right to end the ride on Fountain Circle.

Drivers in the area should expect delays at intersections as the ride progresses and the cyclists spread out. The ride will be slowed or stopped as necessary to close the cyclists up and the ride will then continue. Police Officers working the event will put vehicles through gaps in the ride when possible.
