Do you know anybody from Delaware? Now, you do. Jim Abath was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. That's where he got the TV news bug, watching Philadelphia stations and anchoring and producing two years of shows in high school.
From there, he earned his B.A. in Broadcast Communication at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Freezing in Wisconsin, he swore he'd never complain about the heat in Florida.
Jim got his M.A. in Mass Communication at the University of Florida in 1989. Since then, he's anchored and reported sports at WCJB-TV in Gainesville and WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach.
He also anchored and reported news at WPBF. Among his exploits – running around in and covering more hurricanes and tropical storms than he can count, delving into the 2000 butterfly ballot debacle in Palm Beach County and trying to determine whether smoking or frying turkeys tastes better.
West Palm Beach is also where he found his latest passion – morning news.
That's where you'll find Jim every Monday through Friday here at WAFF.
Jim, his wife and two sons are all excited to now call The Valley their new home.
Jim also knows everyone has a story to tell, so tell him. You can e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
