Decatur, Ala. – Crappie USA Inc. has announced its $10,000 2-day Super Event is coming to Wheeler Lake in Decatur May 21-22, 2010. Anglers fish for a 7-fish limit of crappie, with the top angler receiving a cash prize and the opportunity to advance to the Cabela's Crappie USA Classic, the most prestigious event in crappie fishing today. Ingalls Harbor located at 701 Market Street NW will host the takeoff and weigh-in.
A pre-tournament seminar is set for Thursday evening, May 20, at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites located at 1101 6th Avenue NE in Decatur. Sign up begins at 5 p.m. with the meeting and a National Sponsor Field Test Product Drawing starting at 7 p.m. This seminar is open to the public.
The tournament weigh-in takes place on Friday and Saturday at Ingalls Harbor beginning at 3 p.m. and is also open to the public. Interviews of the top 5 teams will be conducted after the weigh-in.
Crappie USA also presents the Crappie Kids Fishing Rodeo held in conjunction with each tournament to encourage America's youth to actively participate in the preservation of our lakes, the sport of fishing, and their educational goals. The Kids Rodeo is set for Saturday morning at Ingalls Harbor and is free to children 12 years old and under. Sign up begins at 8 a.m. with the rodeo from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. All participants are eligible for one of six Crappie USA $2,000 scholarships to be awarded at the Cabela's Crappie USA Classic.
