Former bank employee convicted for stealing from blind customer

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - A former Regions Bank employee was convicted today of stealing money from a blind customer.

Jurors decided 45-year-old Kerry Bozell took $9,500 dollars from the account of 79-year-old Gwendolyn Lamon.

Lamon is legally blind.

She says she's forgiven Bozell, but she still owes a debt to be paid to society.

"I'm so sorry that it had to happen this way but justice has to be done.  That's why we pressed on with charges, not necessarily for the money sake, but simply because we have to pay for what we do wrong," Lamon said.

Bozell will be sentenced August 9th.

She could get anywhere from 2 to 20 years in prison.
