AUBURN — The Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Monday morning for the first time since Saturday's scrimmage.
The Tigers practiced nearly two hours, going 22 periods, in individual and team drills.
Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said the Tigers worked on correcting mistakes made in Saturday's scrimmage.
"Defensively, we installed some new things in today's practice," Chizik said. "Offensively, we went back and worked on some things that needed to be corrected. Today was really a day for just going back to the basics and addressing the issues we had in the scrimmage."
The Tigers will practice again Wednesday morning before holding a scrimmage Saturday. Chizik noted the coaching staff will be looking for specific areas of improvement going into the second scrimmage of the spring.
"Across the board we will be looking for improvement in our alignments," Chizik said. "Getting everybody in the right spot, not getting rattled by the pace, both offensively and defensively, will be looked at closely. We will also look at the execution of the assignments. The alignments and assignments, the ‘where are we supposed to be and what are we supposed to be doing' type of things and being physical with everything we do will all be looked at and we hope to see improvement."
