The Alabama Vipers couldn't complete the comeback Saturday night, falling to the Bossier-Shrievport Battle Wings 52-48.
The Vipers trailed by 14 with under five minutes to play before staging a late rally. On the last play of the game, Vipers Quarterback Kevin Eakin found Michael Johnson in the middle of the field. Johnson reached the goal line before sending a latteral to teammate Jeremy Grier for what appeared to be the game tying score.
Instead the referee reversed the initial call saying that Johnson was out of bounds before the lateral.
The Vipers return to action for their home opener against the Jacksonville Sharks Friday at 7:30 at the VBC.
