Dr. Lee grew up in Haleyville, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham where he received his medical degree. He then performed his Ophthalmology residency training at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore. After finishing his residency, Dr. Lee went into private practice for several years in Louisville, Kentucky, before returning to academics for two additional years of fellowship training in Corneal and LASIK surgery at both the University of Louisville, and the University of Texas Medical Center in Dallas.
Before moving to Huntsville, Dr. Lee served as a referral doctor the Eye Consultants of Atlanta for patients requiring corneal transplants, complicated cataract surgery, the new DSAEK corneal transplant procedure, as well as the premium intraocular lens implants for cataract patients, such as the Crystalens, Rezoom, and Restore Lens. Dr. Lee is also comfortable with such surgical techniques as amniotic membrane transplants, pterygium excisions, secondary intraocular lens implants, limbal stem cell transplants, artificial iris implants, and BladeFree Lasik surgery.
Although Dr. Lee enjoyed living in Atlanta, the desire to be closer to his family in Alabama has brought Dr. Lee to Huntsville. Here he has settled with his wife Kari, who is also a physician, specializing in Urogynecology, and his two children Sam and Zoey. Dr. Lee is excited to be a part of such an innovative and technologically advanced practice as the Maynor and Mitchell Eye Center. Above all, he appreciates their commitment to excellent patient care and will strive to continue this tradition.
