HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - An entire community is still dealing with the loss of Madison school shooting victim Todd Brown.

Thursday night, friends and loved ones gathered for the visitation to pay their respects.

A steady stream of mourners filed into Royal Funeral Home.

It was easy to spot glimpses of emotion as family, friends, classmates and even total strangers joined to reflect on a life may say was taken to soon.

Rick Russaw said, "It was a tragedy that should not have happened."

The unexpected did happen for the Brown Family.

Todd Brown, 14, lost his life when he was shot and killed Friday by a classmate at Discovery Middle School.

Kimberly Battles said, "To lose when you send your child to school is just horrible."

Many are struggling to put a devastating event to rest, and the only way they know how is by offering support to a family that has lost a son.

Brown is survived by his mother, father, and four brothers.

The "Todd Brown Angel Fund" has been established at Redstone Federal Credit Union.

Donations can be made at any location.

The money will go toward supporting the family for funeral expenses and other needs.

Brown's funeral will be held Friday at noon at Oakwood University Church.
