TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama polished off a 26-player signing class without any big last-day surprises.

The Crimson Tide's class was ranked in the Top 5 nationally for the third straight year in preliminary ratings.

Stanhope Elmore cornerback DeMarcus Milliner headlined a strong group of six defensive backs signees in coach Nick Saban's latest haul. That was a key area of need for a secondary replacing three starters.

Alabama also brought in five defensive linemen, led by versatile pass rusher Alfy Hill. The Tide signed three receivers and three offensive linemen.

The Tide's only quarterback signee, Phillip Sims, is already enrolled and set to go through spring practice.

Alabama landed the state's top two prospects in Milliner and Theodore linebacker C.J. Mosley.

Scott Theisen:

Rivals as of right now list Auburn as the #3..Alabama 5th best classes

Scott Theisen:

Mississippi landed its top target and one of the nation's best recruiting classes on national signing day. The Rebels signed heralded wide receiver Vincent Sanders, new Wild Rebel quarterback Randall Mackey and filled needs in the secondary and along both sides of the line of scrimmage Wednesday, the first day high school players can sign national letters of intent.

Recruiting analysts put the class in or near the top 15.

Mississippi State's class, headlined by gargantuan offensive lineman Damien Robinson and defensive end Kaleb Eulls, is considered top 40, while Southern Miss appears to have signed another group under coach Larry Fedora that could land in the top 50 for the third straight season.

Scott Theisen:

We'll it looks like Alabama fans seem to think the Tide have the best class...Auburn fans where are you..

Wednesday February 3, 2010 12:58 Scott Theisen

Lemonier was rated the nation's No. 3 weakside defensive end prospect by and picked Auburn over Florida State. Reed is a 5-star recruit according to, which named him the seventh-best receiver recruit. His decision came down to Auburn and LSU. Five Auburn signees - including quarterback Cameron Newton - have already enrolled and count toward last year's signing class. The Tigers' class was loaded with linemen and linebackers.
