ANDERSON, AL (WAFF) - The fight continues in the town of Anderson over what to do with the police chief.
The town council is no longer looking at firing him. But some residents believe he needs to go.
For the second consecutive week a standing-room-only crowd gathered at the Anderson Town Hall.
And just like the previous town council meeting tempers boiled over when the floor was opened to the public and residents started to debate about police chief Mark Bowers.
Last month three members of the Anderson Town Council recommended Bowers be fired because of his practices and policies but changed their minds days later and at the last town council meeting voted to disband all of Bowers reserve officers.
Tonight, residents appeared to be split on if Bowers should stay or go.
Bowers has said he's not going to step down from his post and his supporters say he's done nothing wrong.
But his opposition said they've had enough of his tactics and want the town council to relieve him of his duties.
