JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State forward Danielle Vaughn was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Freshman of the Week according to a release from the conference office on Monday.
Vaughn averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last week to go along with two blocks and two steals. She posted her first career double-double with career-highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds in an overtime win over Tennessee State on Tuesday. Vaughn finished with 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting and collected four rebounds against Austin Peay on Saturday.
The Huntsville, Ala., native is the Gamecocks second leading rebounder with 4.6 rebounds per game and is averaging just under eight points per contest. Vaughn has a 54.5 field goal percentage, which leads the OVC, and her 12 blocked shots is tied for third in the OVC. She has scored in double figures six times, including the last three games, this season.
