UNA women down Argos 60-50 for third straight GSC win

PENSACOLA, Fla., – Niala Harris scored 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the University of North Alabama women's basketball team recorded its third straight Gulf South Conference road victory with a 60-50 triumph as West Florida Wednesday evening. The 10-point win puts the Lions in second play in the GSC East Division standings at the half-way points of the conference schedule.

After dropping a 76-60 home game to Valdosta State on Jan. 10, the Lions have gone one the road three straight times, knocking off West Alabama, Alabama-Huntsville and now West Florida to improve to 10-10 overall with a 4-1 conference record.

On Wednesday, UNA led by as many as seven in the opening half before taking a 27-24 lead at the break. West Florida scored the first three points of the second half to tie the game, but could never take the lead over the final 20 minutes. The Lions scored nine straight points to regain the lead and the momentum and UWF had no answer.

Lacy Lewis added 10 points while seven other North Alabama players also scored on the night.

UNA will return to Flowers Hall on Saturday for its first home game in two weeks. The Lions are set to take on Concordia-Selma with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
