Alabama-Huntsville hockey drops road contest late at Robert Morris

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Surrendering a late power-play goal, the Alabama-Huntsville (5-12-5, 1-5-1 CHA) dropped a 3-2 decision to homestanding Robert Morris (6-12-3, 2-4-2 CHA) on Friday night at Pittsburgh's Clearview Arena.

The first period belonged to the Chargers as UAH outshot the Colonials 13-7 and it paid off at 9:06 when senior Davide Nicoletti (Toronto, Ontario) notched his second of the season.  Nicoletti's power-play strike was assisted by freshman winger Keenan Desmet (Strathmore, Alberta) and senior defenseman Brandon Roshko (Hamilton, Ontario).

The second period saw the Colonials draw even at 11:52 when Trevor Lewis scored for the home team.  Denny Urban then gave RMU the lead again just before the period drew to a close with his seventh goal of the season at 19:23 of the second.

RMU kept the lead until 13:40 of the third when Desmet lit the lamp for the second time in as many games.  Nicoletti collected an assist on the play along with freshman center Justin Cseter (Menomonie, Wisc.).

A pair of Charger penalties led to the game winner for the Colonials as Ron Cramer scored at 17:36 after UAH had killed off 36 seconds of 5-on-3 hockey.

Junior netminder Cameron Talbot (Caledonia, Ontario) took the loss in net with a 38-save outing while Brooks Ostergard earned the win stopping 30 shots.

The two teams battle again on Saturday night at Clearview Arena at 7:05 p.m.
