Griffith's former chief of staff heads to Sparks campaign

MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - Congressman Parker Griffith's former Chief of Staff, Sharon Wheeler, announced Wednesday that she is now campaign manager for Ron Sparks.

Wheel has plenty of experience working in Alabama Politics.  She was Chief of Staff for the President Pro Tem of the Alabama Senate.

"We are both committed to creating good-paying jobs by investing in our school children," Sparks said. "We are both committed to ensuring Alabama taxpayers get a dollar's worth of service for a dollar's worth of taxes. We believe in investing in new jobs, investing in our children, and holding state government accountable for every dime it spends. That's the focus that Sharon Wheeler shares with me and the dedication she will bring to our campaign."

When Congressman Griffith announced he was switching parties to be a Republican in late December, the majority staff resigned.

"I am proud of the courage and vision that Ron Sparks has demonstrated while serving as Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, and I am very honored to be a part of the effort to elect him Alabama's next Governor. I have seen firsthand the work that Commissioner Sparks has done to promote economic development, create jobs and move Alabama forward, and I know he will bring that same work ethic and effective leadership to the Governor's office," Wheeler said.
