HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) – It was a November to remember for Huntsville area realtors as home sales for the month hit the highest level on record.
The 526 homes sold represents an 89.2% increase from November 2008.
Home sales rose as buyers rushed to take advantage of a federal tax credit.
"It is exciting to see such a robust bounce back and it is important to continue to monitor the overall economy for any potential bumps in the road," said Huntsville Area Association of Realtors CEO Oscar Gonzales in a news release.
The median price of the homes sold decreased slightly with a median price of $168,000.
The number of houses on the market also declined. There were 151 fewer listings compared to November, 2008.
