No. 12 Wallace State basketball wins sixth straight in easy fashion

HANCEVILLE – L.A. Farmer and Sergio Crowe finished with five 3-pointers apiece and combined for 44 points as No. 12 Wallace State-Hanceville breezed past New Horizon Prep (Miss.) 87-52 Thursday night at Tom Drake Coliseum.

Farmer had a game-high 25 points for the Lions and Sergio Crowe added 19 to help the Lions win their sixth straight contest.

"We are just trying to stay fresh and stay smart here in the last few games before Christmas," said Wallace State coach Allen Sharpe. "We want to end the non-conference schedule on a good note and feel good about ourselves when we come back in January. This win was a good start."

Wallace State (10-1) maintained a comfortable 25-9 lead halfway through the first half after Farmer scored seven consecutive points. The Lions sustained a 47-24 advantage at the half and were never threatened the rest of the way.

Ricky Sears contributed 12 points to the Wallace State attack, Ricardo Hall had 11 and Darrick Thomas finished with eight.

Jared Jones led New Horizon with 15 points.

Wallace State, which is playing three games in three days, travels to Montgomery Friday for a contest against Huntingdon's JV and to Tennessee Temple Saturday.
