ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) - An Albertville woman pleaded guilty and will serve time in jail for endangering the welfare of her child by having her ride in a cardboard box to secure it on the top of her van.
The judge ordered Jackie Knott to 90 days jail time, of which she will serve only five days.
Knott's sentence began immediately. She also has to complete 40 hours of community service, attend a parenting class and driving school followed by two years probation.
Albertville police arrested the 37-year-old mother after concerned drivers called police after they saw the teen in the box on top of a mini-van.
Knott reportedly told police the box would not fit inside her van so she needed her daughter to sit inside of it to help secure it on the van roof.
The teen was not hurt in last month's incident.
