UNA Remains No. 1

LIONS HOLD ON TO TOP SPOT IN DIVISION II WACO, Texas -- The University of North Alabama football team defended its first No. 1 ranking in 13 years in impressive style last Thursday and held on to the top spot in the NCAA Division II in the latest American Football Coaches Association poll released Monday.

The Lions, 9-0 overall, received all 25 first-place votes and 625 total points in this week's rankings. UNA dominated rival Valdosta State from start to finish last week on the way to a 62-27 win over the Blazers. It was the most points ever allowed by VSU in the history of its football program.

UNA is one of just three remaining unbeaten teams in Division II after Albany State, Bloosmburg and Charleston all lost over the weekend.
