SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) - Voters in Scottsboro went to the polls Tuesday to decide on renewing two property taxes for the school system.

Both issues on the ballot involve three-mill taxes.  One would be renewed for 29 years and the other for 30 years.

School officials have urged voters to renew both taxes, saying the money is more crucial than ever following a second year of proration in the state education budget.

Polls opened at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 7:00 Tuesday evening.
