GADSDEN, AL (WAFF) - An Etowah County jury voted 11-1 to recommend a death sentence for a man convicted of killing a young child.
The jury their decision just hours after starting deliberations in the penalty phase of Kevin Towles' capital murder trial..
Towles was convicted Wednesday in the 2006 killing of his girlfriend's young son.
Geontae Glass was beaten to death. Towles could get a death sentence for his capital murder conviction. Prosecutors are pushing for a death sentence.
Towles' attorney is asking for a sentence of life in prison without parole.
Judge Allen Millican will formally sentence Towles' December 18th.
Glass' mother was also charged. Her trial will be held later.
