Huntsville home sales increase

By Stephen Gallien - email

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Home sales are on the rise in Huntsville.

The Huntsville Area Association of Realtor issued a report Thursday showing home sales rose by more than a percent in September.

Sales are nearly four percent higher than those in September 2008.

"We are one of the few markets in the country where we continue to see growth and are on a much faster tracker to normalcy," said Oscar Gonzales, CEO of the Huntsville Area Association of Realtors.

Home sale prices were down in September.

The median selling price came in at $165,275 for a single-family home, which is a drop of almost four percent from August.
