New Hope flu shot clinic cancelled

By Stephen Gallien - email

NEW HOPE, AL (WAFF) - A shortage of seasonal flu vaccine forces another cancellation of a free flu shot clinic.

The Madison County Health Department will no longer give out free flu shots at the New Hope Children's clinic.

There is currently no supply of vaccine to hold the clinic.

The shortage of seasonal flu vaccine had already forced the cancellation of drive-thru flu clinics scheduled this week in Cullman and Marshall Counties.

State health officials blame the shortage on an early start to vaccinations as well as manufacturers who are working to make the vaccine as well as a Swine Flu vaccine.

Madison County health personnel are preparing for the arrival of H1N1 vaccine expected sometime this month.
