MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - Four state troopers have been fired in connection to an ongoing investigation into wrongdoing.
The Department of Public Safety issued a news release Friday to announce the firings, which come three days after the state received information of the alleged wrong-doing.
The four fired troopers were all assigned to a one unit which is not being identified at this time.
The department is reviewing the unit as a whole to ensure its integrity even though the investigation does not implicate other members of the unit.
An outside federal agency has been brought in to help with the integrity review.
"I will tolerate nothing less than the utmost integrity and professionalism in upholding this agency's duty and public trust," said Col. J. Christopher Murphy in a news release.
The Department of Public Safety is not identifying the troopers or providing additional information at this time because the matter involves a continuing investigation and confidential personnel records.
