Jax State Ranked No. 19 in FCS Coaches Preseason Poll

Jacksonville State is ranked 19th in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Coaches Preseason Poll, which was released on Monday.

JSU is tied for Maine after receiving a total of 145 points and is the only school in the Ohio Valley Conference ranked in the preseason poll.

The Gamecocks finished tied for second in the OVC with an 8-3 overall record after winning its final three game to finish 22nd in the FCS Coaches final poll and 23rd in The Sports Network final poll in 2008.

Jax State was ranked for six weeks last season and it marks the first time since being ranked No. 20 in the 2005 preseason poll the Gamecocks are ranked in the preseason poll.

Ten conferences are represented in the poll. The Colonial Athletic Association leads with eight ranked teams. The Southern, Big Sky, Missouri Valley and Southland Conferences each have three teams in the top 25. The other five conferences represented include the Great West, Mid-Eastern Atlantic, Ohio Valley, Ivy and Southwestern.
