MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF)- An online tip helped deputies seize several illegal prescription drugs.

The drugs and other items were taken from a home on Raintree Drive in the Horton Community of Marshall County.

The Marshall County Sheriff's office arrested 46-year-old Kenneth Edward Smith after receiving a complaint from a neighbor Thursday morning.

Investigators seized drugs, cash, and a gun from inside the home.

Neighbors said they knew of the drug activity and felt their children were at risk, so they notificed the police.

The Marshall County Sheriff's office is thankful for the tip.

"These people in these communities need to be a part of the community effort to rid the county of illegal drugs and Sheriff Walls is committed to following up on these tips," said Heath Thomas, Marshall Co. Sheriff's public information officer.

Kenneth Edward Smith is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Smith's bond was set at $14,000.
