Colleges, schools and businesses in the Heart of the Valley are taking safety precautions due to the threat of severe weather. 

Colleges:

  • Northeast Alabama Community College in Rainsville; night classes are cancelled
  • Florida Tech classes on Redstone Arsenal closed tonight.
  • J.F. Drake Technical College; all evening classes cancelled
  • Snead State Community College in Boaz, Arab and Oneonta; night classes cancelled
  • The University of North Alabama's Flutes and Friends concert, scheduled for tonight at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Florence, has been postponed
  • Athens State University: night classes cancelled
  • 7:30 class at Columbia College on Redstone Arsenal is cancelled Thursday.
  • ITT Technical in Madison: No classes Thursday night

Schools:

  • Parent/Teacher conference at Oakwood Adventist Academy cancelled tonight.
  • Pentecostal Lighthouse Child Development Center in HSV closing at 5.

Businesses:

  • Princess Theatre in Decatur has canceled its show tonight. It's being rescheduled for April 14 at 7 p.m.
  • Steps of Faith Performing Arts Center in Meridianville is closed for dance classes Thursday night
  • Massey Dance Production have cancelled classes Thursday night.
  • Pentecostal Lighthouse Development Center's "Meet and greet" is cancelled for tonight.

  • Clirday Karate Decatur/Priceville closed

  • DeKalb County Democrat Club Meeting has been cancelled tonight

  • Sullivan Learning centers in Huntsville: No classes Thursday night

  • Eagle Spirit Karate in Park City TN will not have classes tonight
