Alabama girl improving after accidentally drinking acid


WEAVER, AL (AP)- A Calhoun County girl, who drank hydrochloric acid earlier this month, has been upgraded from critical to serious condition.

11-year-old Kristen Kelley was playing outside her home in Weaver when she drank what she thought was Sprite out of a soda bottle.

It was actually acid used to make meth.
Police say it belonged to her cousin, Wayne Thurman Tubbs.

Officers searched the camper trailer Tubbs was living in an found 6 meth labs.

Tubbs is charged with assault, chemical endangerment of a child, and manufacturing meth.
