The Florence Police Department was rocked back in February when Deputy Chief Tony Logan resigned.  The announcement came while Logan was being investigated for misconduct by the Alabama Bureau of Investigations.

The ABI investigation ended this week, and no criminal charges will be brought against Logan.  Today he spoke out about the situation.

Tony Logan, former Florence Deputy Chief, said, "Back when this first took place, I felt confident and Chief Singleton relayed he didn't feel like anything would come from it."

If Logan felt that way, why would he resign from a job he had worked at for more than 20 years?

Logan responded, "In a position of leadership, I was concerned some of the co-workers might have some concerns."

He also said he felt it was time to leave the department.

"I really felt like in my heart of hearts it was time for me to look at something different now," said Logan.

The specifics of the allegations brought against Logan have never been released, but Logan says he is happy with the end result.

Logan said, "For me it was nice to see it in writing because there had been so many people in the community that had concerns."

He says he does not regret resigning, but he does wish one thing.

"I should have gotten some advice, that I didn't," said Logan.

Logan has not ruled out getting back into law enforcement.

Logan concluded, "I'm still young enough, and my health is still good, I still have something to contribute to law enforcement."

Logan worked as a Tuscumbia Police Officer before joining the Florence Police Department.  He says he would love to work for the city again.
