Notable female officer dies after fight with cancer

Sixty-six-year-old Gayle Wilson Butler lost her battle with cancer on Saturday.

She was one of the first females ever hired by the Huntsville Police Department. Butler and her husband founded the "Jailbusters" bail bonding chain.

Butler's visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home.

Her funeral will be at the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Burial will follow at Maple Hill.
