NWS: Tornado touches down in Tennessee

Updated:

WAFF 48 News checked out the aftermath along Flintville School Road in Lincoln County Tennessee.

"My neighbor right up the road here, I think it took every tree in his yard down except one," says Airon Lamb, a resident where the tornado hit.

Listening to Brad Travis on his television, Lamb heeded warning and headed for shelter.

He's now cleaning up the damage from an EF-1 tornado that swept through his neighborhood last night.

The size of the storm on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, small, but the storm a tornado nonetheless.

"It blew the back side of my neighbors white house clean out, it just blew it up, messed it up pretty good."

The last tornado that residents on this road remember was in 1974, and they say last nights damage doesn't even compare.

"That was a mess there, we were out of school, helping farmers clean up with cows with two by fours in them," says Lamb.

This the latest tornado remembered because it's evidence is still everywhere.

So what's next?

"Clean it up I guess, and hope that it misses us next time."

The '74 tornado Lamb told us about happened in April.

For residents new to the Tennessee Valley, we actually have two severe weather seasons. The Spring, and right now.
